A mother and child were inside the home when they smelled smoke. The two went out the back of the house and found the deck ablaze. Firefighters responded at 1:45 p.m. When they arrived the fire had already consumed the home and was spreading to a second home.
No one was hurt, but firefighters said the house is a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The family's six children range in age from six to 14-years-old. The family will be staying with an aunt.
Homeowner Tony Haungs said he was relieved that his family and children were okay, and that they can make make it through the holidays with their friends.
